Introduction
The Finance Manager is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the
production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting
records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance
the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results
comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting
standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic & Commercial
• Working closely with the CFO on management of company cash flow and financial
strategies
• Assisting CFO with negotiation of commercial agreements with clients and suppliers
• Assistance to CFO regarding financial modelling and budgets
• Providing financial performance modelling and tracking
• Assistance to CFO in producing ad-hoc reporting to HOD’s
• Assistance to CFO in reviewing of legal agreements and NDAs
Monthly Financial Responsibilities:
• Oversee Invoicing of Clients based on Commercial Agreements
• Management of debtors and creditors control
• Accounting of company finances in accordance with IFRS for SME
• Compilation of Management Accounts and Financial Reporting to Shareholders
• Assisting CFO with submission and payment of VAT
• Preparation of company payroll
• Budgeting including variance review and remedial actions
• Calculation of Income tax and deferred tax liabilities
• Fixed Asset Register maintenance
• Oversee payments to suppliers
Bi- annual Financial Responsibilities:
• Company Finance Modelling including Budgeting and Forecasts
• Assisting CFO with calculation and submission of provisional and annual Income
Tax
• Calculation, submission and payment of Dividend Withholding Tax
Management
• Managing accounts department, workloads and deadlines
• Develop and document recordkeeping and accounting systems
• Monitor a chart of account and have a thorough understanding of the financial
reporting and general ledger structure
• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
• Monitor and analyse department work to develop more efficient procedures and use
of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
• Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
Reporting
• Collect, analyse and preparing accounts
• Auditing financial information
• Compiling and presenting reports, business plans and commentaries to the CFO
• Financial forecasting and cash flows for submission to the CFO
• Support the CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements
Compliance
• Submitting documents to all regulatory bodies including: CIPC, COIDA SARS and
the Reserve Bank
• Assisting CFO with statutory requirements such assistance with execution of call
options and clawbacks on share sales
• Maintain banking regulations
• Maintain and update a register of all customer and supplier contracts
• Manage insurance policies
• Oversee and manage secretarial documentation
• Prepare for yearly audit and liaise with external auditors
Transactions
• Resolve accounting discrepancies
General Administration Duties
• General correspondence and administrative duties
• Maintain banking relationships
Desired Experience & Qualification
• BCOM Accounting, CA (SA) Qualification or equivalent (or in line to qualify as a CA
in the next 2-6 months)
• 4 years post articles experience is not a prerequisite, but will improve your chance of
success
• Discipline to work on projects with little oversight from others
• Ambition to take on more responsibility and grow your role in the company
• Experience in managing and motivating team members
