Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.   In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.

Job Description

Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent the role will encompass providing mechanical engineering support to our underground operations as well as;

  • Provide safe, efficient, and reliable mechanical engineering services to the Maintenance & Engineering Department and assist in achieving agreed maintenance plans and targets including specific engineering projects, procurement of equipment, disposal of equipment and improvement plans.
  • Contribute to the development and ongoing management of a reliable 5-year maintenance and engineering plan
  • Management of mechanical engineering projects, ensuring adequately planned scope, technical specifications, job instructions / procedures, contracts, contractor management and QA on site.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

  • Knowledge of the relevant standards and Coal Mining Act and Regulation to ensure a safe, efficient operation where projects time frames are met, and targets are achieved.
  • An advantage but not essential would be the knowledge proficient use of Autocad
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the ZERO Harm philosophy with experience in delivering safety improvements and efficiencies.
  • A high-level understanding of regulatory standards will be required to ensure statutory compliance for mechanical activities at the mine.
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering will be highly regarded.
  • RPEQ qualified or be willing to gain RPEQ status is mandatory.

This is a full-time, permanent position.
Based at our Grosvenor Mine in Moranbah QLD.
Monday to Friday Roster
DIDO, FIFO, Residential options available.
