Venetia Mine is an asset in the Anglo American portfolio with a strategic and commercial imperative to achieve the business objectives.  Open pit operations are due to continue for the next four years, whilst transitioning to underground mining.  Early duties will include commissioning and over-inspection related functions.

Job Description

As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will ensure the organisations Safety, Health and Environmental management programmes are implemented according to the statutory legislation and strategic maintenance policies. You will also be expected to identify the preparation and implementation of policies and procedures as well as the overseeing and coordinating of electrical engineering activities safely, efficiently and cost effectively.

You will be responsible for:

• Ensure that work is performed to ‘Zero Tolerance’ principles to prevent harm to persons, damage to machinery and equipment
• Assist with the stabilization and optimisation of machinery performance and reliability
• Interpreting the organisational requirements for the section, to compile and develop a risk log with appropriate mitigation solutions that align with the strategic business plans
• Contributing to the continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives for the engineering processes as well as contractor management
• Implementing the asset management planned execution for utilities and electrical sections and coordinating the development management and enhancement of maintenance plans
• Implementing critical plant and Equipment strategies / tactics are delivering to the defined availability, reliability and cost / operated hour within the lifecycle model and production plan
• Identify cost saving and optimisation opportunities
• Assist the site team to ensure all safety devices and facilities are operational and correctly used
• Gives direct input in the engineering training strategy for the operation
• Assist with the management of department cash flows ensuring alignment to budget plans and forecasts

This role is in the Engineering Department at Band 6 and reports to the Senior Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• GCC for Mines and Works

Required Experience

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in the Mining or heavy industry, 5 years’ of which must be in a management role
• Asset Management and Maintenance experience 
• Sound knowledge in Electrical Infrastructure
• Medium Voltage to Low Voltage experience is key
